This morning we looked at what was going on in the first chapter of Joshua after Moses had died and God calls Joshua to take the Israelites across the Jordan river.

Before God called Joshua & the Israelites He ordered their steps and had plan for their fight against the Egyptians.

But sometimes, even after a major victory, it’s easy to get sidetracked and discouraged…

Like in the story of Elijah in 1 Kings 19. Elijah just faced off with the prophets of Baal and God showed up and demonstrated His power. Elijah was on top of the world! But then like 5 minutes later he’s off running from Jezebel and sitting under a broom tree in the desert begging God to go ahead and take his life! What?!

Doesn't that happen to us sometimes? For example, here at camp we got all jacked up and we're ready to take on the world for Jesus and share His love with our friends when we get back home! And then we get home and we're tired and realize we're scared and sharing Jesus doesn't sound nearly as easy as it did within the safe walls of camp...

We can't lose focus on the calling God has placed on us because once we lose focus we start thinking "I can't do this!" - But even when we give up on ourselves GOD doesn't give up on us. Just like with Elijah, He gives us rest and nourishment and speaks to us in a still small voice to remind us of OUR calling and HIS power!

"The Lord said, "Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by." Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper." (1 Kings 19:11-12)
