Middle School Spring Retreat - Saturday Morning Session!

Good morning from Camp Longridge! The weather is beautiful here and "spring" retreat is living up to it's name! (Unlike the bitter wind & cold we had last weekend!) - Our one full day here with our middle schoolers is jam packed so we'll update as we can!!

We kick off each session with a couple team challenges to make sure we're all awake - although maybe this is more for the adults, because most of the kids were outside by 7am even though breakfast wasn't until 8:30am!

Our first challenge is simply finishing off a yummy little Kool-Aid packet...One lick at a time!

Here's how they finished:
"Red"y or Not
The Smokey Cheetos
The Poisonous Tree Frogs
The Peppy Pink Flamingos
Joe Mama
Potassium
Deja Blue
The Purple Assassins

Next up the entire stage ends up covered with tissues as students race to empty their box of tissues one tissue at a time using only one hand!

And games are fun and all, but really the best way to kick off Saturday here at camp is with worship!!

In session two Tracy shared his story with us - He grew up in church and was there every time the doors were open. Then in middle school he started experimenting with different things to "fit in." But no matter what he did he was never really satisfied or fulfilled.

As we continued talking about our theme of "Stand" we looked at the story of the Prodigal Son in Luke 15 as Tracy hammered home the point that "If you're not standing out for Jesus you're blending in with the world!"
